Look closely, they've been painted; the inner, unexposed frame surfaces are grey. They did a good job though, as they were obviously painted with the cones installed, which might suggest they're still original, as complete frame painting usually only happens in conjunction with a recone.

Some Altec components used by Heath received gold-colored paint jobs, but I've no idea whether that was done by Altec or Heath
